You can see, out of a field of about 17, the same three races were consistent winners. On any given Sunday, Tommy Ryan, Bob Skolberg or Henry Hester earned 1st place. Yandall left to Michigan to promote G&S boards and get married and knew he'd be back someday! The stage was set!
(In The Beginning, con't from Page 1)
the "National Skateboard Review". It was published for the next 3 years from my home garage in Leucadia, CA. It was the source of a very exciting, cutting edge view of the 2nd generation of skateboarding.
Now, after all these years, the time has come to look back and remember. In the "issues" to come, we'll feature more race results for the La Costa era. We'll review in detail stories from those days bringing you up to date with the skaters from then to where they are now. You'll see a "Then and Now" article in the following editions.
Thanks for checking looking our site over and hope you find it interesting and it peaks your curiosity. Skateboarding has / hasn't changed. There are some new product developments and the "X-Games" are an annual event: but skateparks are still here, ramps are still here, hills to still go down and street skaters are everywhere. Here's to keepin' on keepin' on.
